About This Item

Random House, 1956. Hardcover. Very Good Plus/Good. 8x5x1. Frederick T. Chapman. Vintage Landmark Hardback Cloth Cover Book with Dust Jacket. Book itself is in Very Good Plus condition with a tight binding and clean crisp pages. There is a short inscription on the first title page ("For George From Grandma Christmas 1960". Inside text is in Very Good Plus to Excellent condition and appears that "George" may have never read the book! Cloth covers are nice with some minor corner wear. Dust Jacket shows some heavier edge chipping primarily to the outside spine and front cover. Dust Jacket is NOT price clipped (195/195) and is now covered by a new clear mylar cover. This is NOT an ex-library book, but has come from a private collection. Landmark Books and World Landmark Books are accurate, in-depth stories for young people in the 9-15 year old range. These living histories were written by award-winning authors or by men and women who experienced the events first hand. Written during the 1950's and 1960's and illustrated either with two-color drawings or clear photographs, the books are informative, enjoyable, and well worth reading and collecting. Landmark Book #70. The West Point story is linked closely to the story of our country. In the hard days of the American Revolution, General Benedict Arnold tried to sell West Point, and, because of his treachery, an honest soldier was hanged. Had Arnold succeeded, our Military Academy would never have been born at West Point.
