The Western Front: Drawings by Muirhead Bone
New York: George H. Doran, 1917. With an Introduction by Field-Marshall Sir Douglas Haig. 2 volumes in 10 parts. 200 plates, many color, 4to.
Condition: The cover boards in cloth and paper are a little worn with some signs of staining. The drawing and magazines inside are in very good condition, with one or two loose caption pages.
About the item: Sir Muirhead Bone was a Scottish etcher and watercolorist who became known for his depiction of industrial and architectural subjects and his work as a war artist in both the First and Second World Wars. Originally, these drawings were issued in 10 parts. Volume 1 contains the original 5 parts, in their original covers and crisp clean dustwrappers. Volume 2 contains part 1 in it's original case and dustwrapper, and the rest of the sheets are loose.
