Serge discusses files of the Okhrana, "captured intact by the [Bolshevik] revolutionaries" [that] "show all the working of repression: from surveillance and back-room analysis to provocation, arrest and torture." [Serge's presentation was] "Designed to present the findings of the Bolsheviks to the international proletariat. "First published in 1926 as Les coulisses d'une Surete generale. Ce que tout revolutionnaire doit savoir de la repression; Librairie du Travail, Paris. / Part I first published in Bulletin Communiste November 1921 as Les Methodes et les Procedes de la Police Russe."
