New York: Harper & Brothers, 1956. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good/very good. Signed first edition of What I Think by Adlai E. Stevenson.. Octavo, xvi, 240pp. Blue hardcover, title on spine in gilt, blue cloth spine. Light wear along bottom boards. Stated "first edition" on copyright page. In publisher's very good dust jacket, wear to top edge, bright illustrations, a very good example. Inscribed by Adlai Stevenson: "To Prof. Ray Malealin - with the good wishes of another native Californian - Adlai E. Stevenson. Chicago, 1956." Mr. Stevenson was Governor of Illinois from 1949-1953. He was the Democratic candidate for President in 1952 and 1956, losing both times to President Dwight Eisenhower. He finished his career as the United States Ambassador to the United Nations under President John Kennedy.
