London: Heinemann, 1964. First printing. Cloth. Very Good/near fine. Green Cloth Covered Boards with gilt title to spine. This is a rare copy of Smith's first novel. First printed 1964 (NOT reprinted before publication). The binding is tight and the boards are in good condition. The paper is white and there is some foxing on the page edges. The jacket is in good condition - no fading or but some closed tears to base and top of spine - tiny loss from top of spine about 7 mm x 5 mm triangle. - just a tiny bit of shelf wear - please ask for a scan if you are interested. Now protected in archival Brodart clear cover. Price Clipped. Gift inscription to front fixed end paper. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 459 pages. Some tape marks to endpapers and cloth cover from earlier plastic dustjacket cover.
