With a signed letter from the editor. First UK edition. Scarce edition. With signed letter from the editor, on Sidgwick & Jackson complimentary paper, which reads: "Deborah, Hope you enjoy it. We publish 27th Sept + Stratis is coming over to read his poems that evening at Poetry Sol. Do come." A young boy comes of age during the Second World War while living in German-occupied Greece and consequently witnesses the ongoing destruction of his family, his village, and his way of life. Written by Stratis Haviaras, a bilingual writer of literary works in English and Greek. Illustrated by Fred Marcellino, an American illustrator and later an author of children's books who was very influential in the book industry. In the original quarter cloth binding with paper boards. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear and minor bumping to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper is also very smart with light shelf wear only. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. Very Good Indeed
