Norfolk: New Directions, 1957. Limited Edition: #34/75. Hardcover. Quarto, 112 pages. In Very Good condition. Bound in oversize boards hand-painted by Patchen with both board covers and spine painted in a wraparound scene. Spine with some chipping to paint, primarily at head of spine. Boards show consistent mild rubbing and wear, including some chipping. Text block has staining to endpapers from paint. First edition, first printing, released in a limited edition of 75 copies. Rear pastedown with painted limitation, "#34/75", signed in paint. Shelved in Case 0. Kenneth Patchen (1911-1972) was an American poet and novelist who was known for experimenting with different forms of writing and incorporating painting, drawing, and jazz music into his works. He was a central influence on the San Francisco Renaissance and the Beat Generation. 1353378. Shelved Dupont Bookstore.
