First edition, in the publisher's original decorated boards, with the original, unclipped dust wrapper.Written by Philip Henderson, this biographical work explores the life, work and friends of British textile designer, poet and artist William Morris. This work is divided into three sections, entitled Romance, Commitment and Utopia. The dust wrapper notes that the author, Philip Henderson, the editor of the Morris family letters, presents 'the first full length portrait of Morris since Mackail's heavily censored 'official' biography of 1899'. Illustrated with eight beautiful coloured plates and bright, decorated endpapers, as well as many other black-and-white illustrations throughout. In the publisher's original decorated boards, with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, lovely, with minor shelf wear only. Dust wrapper is excellent, with only minor shelf wear and sunning to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages very bright and clean. Fine
