About This Item

In the original publisher's cloth binding, with the original dust wrappers. Each of the dust wrapper's are unclipped, apart from 'William - The Showman'. These novels are all early editions. 'William and the A. R. P' is the tenth impression, published in 1947, with the work first being published in 1939. 'Just William's Luck' is the second impression from 1950, with the first publication being in 1948. 'William's Crowded Hours' is the sixteenth impression from 1951, with the first impression being published in 1931. This 1952 edition of 'William - The Showman' is the eleventh impression, with the first publication being in 1937. Just William was a series of thirty-eight books, published between 1922 and 1970. They were written by English author Richmal Crompton, who was best known for this particular series. William remained eleven years old throughout this time, with the era he was living in adapting as the years went by. All of the 'Just William' books were collections of short stories, with the exception of 'Just William's Luck', which was one story. In these stories, William Brown often had an adventure, using his confidence and his independent mind to take on any projects and games which came his way. There are often misunderstandings and confusions, with everything working out in the end, adhering to William's motto, "Doin' good, rightin' wrongs, spreadin' happiness and walking down the narrow path of virtue". With an ink inscription dated 1948 to the front endpaper of 'William and A. R. P'. Ink inscription to half title of 'William - The Showman', dated 1980. With charming illustrations throughout by English illustrator, Thomas Henry. In the original publisher's cloth binding, with the original dust wrappers. Each of the dust wrapper's are unclipped, apart from The Showman. Externally, smart with light bumping and the odd mark to boards. Mark to the spine of Crowded Hours. The odd spot and age toning to endpapers. Small tide mark to the rear endpapers of Crowded Hours. Ink inscription to front endpaper of A. R. P. Dust wrappers in good condition, with slight chipping and the odd tear. Slight soiling and the odd mark to the wraps, with fading to the spine. Tape to the reverse of the wrap of Crowded Hours and Luck. Repair to the wrap at the bottom of the spine on Luck. Light spotting to the reverse of the wrap of A. R. P. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean, with the odd handling mark. Ink inscription to half title of The Showman. Very Good
