About This Item

London : B. T. Batsford, 1953. First edition. Cloth. Fine. 9" by 6". Not Stated. A stunning limited edition of this volume on William Roscoe of Liverpool, with colour illustrations. A limited edition copy of this work which was sponsored by Liverpool City Council. Two editions of this work were printed, this being a copy of the De Lux Edition, of which five hundred copies were printed, with this copy being number 368. William Roscoe of Liverpool was a historian, art collector, lawyer and is perhaps best known today for his work as an early abolitionist, supporting the act of Parliament in 1807 to abolish the slave trade on which prosperity in Liverpool was based. In lovely decorative cloth binding. With one hundred and two illustrations throughout the text. Collated, complete. In the publisher's original decorative cloth binding. Externally, excellent. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages. Fine
