About This Item

London: HarperCollins Publishers. Near Fine in Very Good+ dust jacket. 1997. First Edition; First Printing. Hardcover. 000225591X . SIGNED by the AUTHOR. Near FINE Black boards with Bright Gilt titling to the spine. Sharp cornered and very clean but with Very Very slight storage 'crushing' to the top/bottom of the spine - NO damage and negligible. In the original publisher's pictorial dustjacket. The d/j has a very small loss (1cm x 0.5 cm) to the black section of the very top of the front cover. The d/j is now in a new protective clear - removable - bookfilm plastic cover, and this is hardly noticable. The d/j is NOT price clipped. FIRST EDITION, FIRST Printing with the Correct Printers Key - 1 3 5 7 9 10 8 6 4 2. This is a Near Fine Copy of this Book in a Near Fine, but as noted above, slightly 'at fault', dustjacket. (8) + 373 pp + 3 (blank) pp. Page fore-edges just beginning to turn light cream, uniformly, rather than white - negligible - and all hinges tight. This copy has been flat SIGNED by the AUTHOR on the Title Page. NO other Inscriptions or Marks. A Lovely Clean, Near Fine, copy - only categorised as Near Fine rather than 'As New' due to the very very slight 'tanning' to the page fore-edges, and the small loss to the d/j. "Young girls are disappearing around the country, and there is nothing to connect them to one another, let alone the killer whose charming manner hides a warped and sick mind.." . "Val McDermid’s Number One bestselling crime series, featuring psychological profiler Dr Tony Hill and Detective Carol Jordan - in the suspenseful and ferociously readable thriller that led to the much-loved TV show." . Synopsis

Taut, suspenseful and ferociously readable thriller featuring psychological profiler Dr Tony Hill, hero of the hugely succesful television series 'The Wire in the Blood'Young girls are disappearing around the country, and there is nothing to connect them to one another, let alone the killer whose charming manner hides a warped and sick mind. Nobody gets inside the messy heads of serial killers like Dr Tony Hill. Now heading up a National Profiling Task Force, he sets his team an exercise: they are given the details of thirty missing teenagers and asked to use their new techniques to discover whether there is a sinister link between any of the cases. Only one officer comes up with a concrete theory – a theory that is ridiculed by the group... until one of their number is murdered and mutilated. For Tony Hill, the murder becomes a matter of personal revenge, and joined by colleague Carol Jordan, he embarks on a campaign of psychological terrorism – a game where hunter and hunted can be all too easily reversed.
