Volume two is also illustrated with several full-page images and a color frontispiece of the state flag. Volumes three and four with several full-page black and white photographs, the photographs depict the subjects in the short biographies included in the volume. The history begins with a chapter on the Native people of Wisconsin, contines with the first European exploration of Wisconsin, and concludes at the early twentieth century. The illustrations depict the driftless area, buffalo, the early capitols of Wisconsin, and several notable figures in Wisconsin history. A detailed history of the midwestern state.
