About This Item

A very charming, uncommon first edition copy of this collection of poems by various English writers with critical comments, edited by Leigh Hunt. The first edition of this work. Comprising a selection of poems by English authors, with critical comments by Hunt Leigh: with works by Chaucer and Shakespeare as well as many others. Including an illustrative essay on wit and humour. James Henry Leigh Hunt was an English critic, essayist, and poet. He was a very prominent Romantic figure, producing many varieties of poems: narrative, satires, odes, sonnets, and much more. In half calf binding and marbled boards, with titles stamped in gilt to spine. Externally lovely with only minor shelfwear. Internally, firmly bound. Slight offsetting to title page, otherwise pages are bright and clean. Fine
