His novels are regarded to be just like his conversation. Many of his writings depict a damaged English society of half-pay officers. However, the unconventional construction and conversational tone of his military books earned him his reputation. Many of his novels were based on his own life experiences. In half calf bindings with cloth covered boards. Externally, sound with slight rubbing to the spine s and joints. Minor rubbing to the extremities. Spines have faded. Severe loss to head of spine to Charles O Malley Volume I. Front hinge to volume II of Charles O Malley is slightly strained but firm. Crack to head joint of Charles o Malley vol II. Small loss to joints to Barrington. Front joint and hinge to Barrington is tender with cords showing. Green ink spill to foredge of Barrington, only affecting the bottom corner to some pages. Front joint and hinge to Barrington are tender. Small loss to tail of spine to Bramleighs of Bishop's Folly due to rubbing. Small loss to head of spine to That Boy of Norcott's Etc, alongside a crack to head of front joint. Small loss to backstrip of Sir Brook, particularly at the head and tail due to rubbing. Backstrip to Sir Brooke is lifting at the head and is tender. Loss to page 503 of Lord Kilgobbin, resulting in imprint being lost. Crack to head of both joints to Luttrell of Arran. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright with spots to endpapers. Good

Where are We?
Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
