London: T. Evans, 1784. Leather. Very Good. 7" by 4". Unamed. A set of the collected works of Rabelais, four volume bound in two and in a uniform leather binding. Translated from the original French. Francois Rabelais was a French Renaissance writer. Writing in a wide variety literary styles from fantasy, to satire, to songs, Rabelais is considered one of the founding writers of modern European literature. His best known work is Gargantua and Pantagruel. With additional explanatory notes by M. Le du Chat, among others. In quarter calf bindings. Externally, sound with some bumping. Personal bookplate to front pastedown of each volume. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright with scattered spots. Very Good
