Edinburgh: W. and C. Tait , 1823. Leather. Good. 7.5" by 5". None. The poetical works of Robert Herrick, from the library of the British heiress and book collector, Frances Mary Richardson Currer. A scarce new edition. Complete in two volumes. Rebound in half morocco on marbled boards. The poetical works of Robert Herrick. Including a biographical notice, 'Hesperides', and his most famous poem, 'To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time', which begins with the first line, 'Gather ye rosebuds while ye may'. Each volume has a bookplate for, 'Frances Mary Richardson Currer', to the front paste-down. Currer was a British heiress and book collector. According to the bibliographer, Thomas Frognall Dibdin, she had one of the best and most extensive libraries in the United Kingdom. The half title pages are present in both volumes. Rebound in half calf. Externally, a trifle rubbed with rubbing to the extremities. Fading to the spines. Marks to the boards and spine. Bookplate to the front paste-down of each volume. Bookplate to the front free endpaper of volume one. Ink inscription from previous owner to the reverse of the front free endpaper. Hinges strained. Spotting to the reverse of the free endpapers. Internally, binding slightly strained but still firm. Pages age-toned to the edges but otherwise bright and clean. Spotting towards the front, and the odd handling mark throughout. Ink mark to the front blank of volume one. Good
