Wright built three residences for himself: the home and studio in suburban Oak Park, Illinois; Taliesin on family land in Spring Green, Wisconsin; and Taliesin West in the desert town of Scottsdale, Arizona. Treated as three distinct stages in a time-line of the architect's long and varied career, these houses constitute a kind of architectural biography, incorporating the threads of Wright's life and thinking.
