'Boswell in Search of a Wife' and 'Boswell for the Defence' in the original dustwrappers. Slipcases in a very good condition.A collection of this private papers, journals and travel works, of James Boswell.Boswell was a noted Scottish biographer and diarist of the eighteenth century, well beloved for his biography on his contemporary and friend Samuel Johnson.These publications by Yale University helped to transform Boswell's reputation, after they recovered his many private papers. 'Boswell's London Journal 1762-1763 Together With Journal of My Jaunt Harvest 1762', published in 1951. Illustrated with a frontispiece, two folding maps, and twenty-one plates. Collated, complete. Spines are a little discoloured, as is usual with vellum. a few faint marks to the boards and spines. 'Boswell on the Grand Tour: Italy, Corsica, and France, 1765-1766' bookseller's label to the front paste down. 'Boswell in Search of a Wife 1766-1769' dustwrapper is a little edgeworn with some chips, light age-toning and spots to the wraps. 'Boswell For the Defence 1769-1774' dustwrapper is a little discoloured with some spots. Stickers to the bottom edges of the slipcases. Slipcases a little worn with some tears, light marks and some rubbing to the slipcases. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with a few odd spots to the first and last few pages. 'Boswell on the Grand Tour: Italy, Corsica, and France, 1765-1766', 'Boswell in Search of a Wife 1766-1769', and ''Boswell For the Defence 1769-1774' pages uncut to the fore edge. Slipcases in a very good condition. Very Good Indeed
