The author, former editor of Harper's Magazine, visited his hometown Yazoo, Mississippi, in 1969 and 1970. In this book he reported on "Yazoo as a symbol and a crucible of the American South's agony of the soul in facing the implications of massive school integreation as ordered by" the U.S. Supreme Court. -- dust jacket. Book is in Near Fine Condition: slightly cocked; clean and tight. Dust jacket is in Very Good- Condition: closed 2-cm. tear from lower edge at spine; clean and bright.
