About This Item
New Paltz, New York:: Papyrus Productions ,, 2010.. Edition of 10. 10.75 x 8.125"; 34 pages. Photography. Japanese stab binding. Francois Deschamps: "This book is an elegiac mediation on a trip to Bolivia with my son in 2008." Francois Deschamps, You and Me: "In July you and I rambled from town to town in the Bolivian Altiplano, I would take your picture and we would trade places. Then you, looking at the small digital screen, would match that picture with one of me." The photographs, one by father taken of the son and then one with the roles reversed, are paired on opposing pages of a spread, with the figures of father and son whited out. The ghostly holes emphasize the connections as well as the differences in the two; there is resonance between but not duplication in the father and the son.
