Boston: Parker & Ditson, 1840. Paperback. Good +. 2 volumes: 28, [4], 38, [2] p.: music; 26 x 33 cm. Original plain wrappers (included in page count). Handwritten on front wrappers "Part: 1" and " Part 2." First edition. Organist and composer Heinrich Christoph Zeuner (1795-1857) was born in Saxony but spent most of his career in Boston, where he was associated with the Handel and Haydn Society from 1830 to 1837, and then Philadelphia, where he was organist first at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and later at Arch Street Presbyterian Church. Extremely scarce. In Good+ Condition: wrappers are lightly soiled and separating along the spines; old dampstaining in Part I, primarily along upper edge of pages, and in Part II along gutter; a few pencil marks in margins; otherwise, clean and solid.
