This is a GREAT beginner book. It's simple enough for kids but the exercises and explanations work well for the beginning adult as well.

I wish I'd found this book five years ago! It's both inspirational and practical. The job hunting advice alone would have been worth full purchase price!

An interesting and challenging look at the economics of slavery, Time on the Cross challenges most of the 'common knowledge' about slavery in the US. It breaks down the dry data in a way that makes it interesting and accessible to the layman.

The book deals primarily with the development of the art of training trees into interesting and often functional shapes. It also provides a primer for those inclined to try for themselves. It's an interesting read and the pictures are great even though they are only b&w. Includes history and bios of several of the 'pioneers' of arbor sculpting.

It's great for anyone trying to document a given technique to a given period. The book is a compilation of medieval illustrations and their bibliographies.A glossary of tools is included. However, little explanation is given so it's not for the beginner. But for a researcher or more advanced student it's an absolutely worthwhile addition to any library.
