Near Fine/Fine. 2005 FIRST PRINTING of First Edition, inscribed and signed to another Greenland explorer on the recto of the short-title page. Original black cloth with gilt lettering front cover and spine. The book is in superior condition with clean covers, no fading, no rubbing, two penned comments by Wallerstein correcting text, otherwise no previous owner marks or writing on any pages (apart from author's signed inscription), no foxing, solid binding. The original dust jacket is in fine condition with no tears, no chips, no loss, clean. The book has been inscribed to George Wallerstein who pioneered first ascents in Greenland's mountain in the 1950s. Wallerstein was a leading astronomer (created U Washington's department) who climbed and made many first ascents in the Sierra Nevada and elsewhere. The book measures 235mm tall x 160mm and has 254 pages, many color and b/w photos, index, PHOTOS ARE OF THE ACTUAL BOOK BEING OFFERED.
