Three first edition volumes of economic publications from the Scottish Historical society, covering a selection of years between 1587 and 1739. Three attractive first editions, uniformly bound. Present here are three publications from the Scottish Historical Society, the first being vol. 16, 'The Account Book of Sir John Foulis of Ravelston 1671-1707', published in 1894. The preface to this work explains that in containing the accounts of one individual, rather than of a public body, 'it is specially valuable as throwing light on social life in Scotland two hundred years ago', and is arguably a more interesting source in looking at a person than their own diary. The second work here is vol. 28, 'The Compt Buik of David Wedderburne Merchant of Dundee 1587-1630', published in 1898. Also present within this volume are the Shipping Lists of Dundee, 1580-1618.
