Wear to spine ends, a few pages dinged/creased. Cranford, originally published in 1853, was presented as a BBC television program in 2007. It features several quaint old ladies & their social circle. Gaskell, 1810-1865, was an English novelist who depicted country and village life; she was friends with fellow female writers Charlotte Bronte & George Eliot.

Binding firm. 316 p., immaculate and unmarked except for name of former owner on front end page and two tiny smudges there. Tiny open tear on lower edge t.p., obviously snipped out with scissors. Frontis. portrait of the author, who was as beautiful as she was talented.
