Description:
New York: The Modern Library, 1936. Hardcover. VG+/Fair. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. Early Modern Library addition with top edge stained black and underside of dust jacket listing only 309 titles. DJ is quite tattered and scuffed and shows numerous tears and creases with the worst being along the spine. Original price of $0.95 still present on the front flap the rear flap has the upper corner torn away. Red cloth boards underneath are clean and bright and show only minor edge and corner bumps. Decorated end pages and front and rear are free of any handwriting or bookplates. Binding is good with no issues, pages are clean.

The Modern Library / Random House, New York, 1936. Reprint. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good Condition/Very Good. A note on the author. Illustrated end pages, being the series logo and books and the letter M. Red coloured cloth covered boards with black insert and decoration to the front panel and back strip and within those black inserts gilt coloured titles. Illustrated dustwrapper with white coloured titles to the front panel and black coloured titles to the back strip. First published in 1936, this is the story about an activist trying to organise abused labourers in order to gain fair wages and working conditions, a precursor to his much more famous The Grapes of Wrath. Softening and a little rubbing of the back strip edges with rubbing of the book corners. Tanning of the text block edges and age toning of the pages.
