Spine, gilt tooling & titles, edges bumped and worn. Internally, half title, not paginated but 64 leaves, containing, 2 music plates, 10 Botany Plates, 26 Alphabet Plates, and 8 illustrations within text, 1 pl soiled with small repair, text block edges sprinkled red, ink name to fep (Harvey), lacks adverts at end, recased. Lear published his last book of nonsense, Laughable Lyrics, which contained some of his finest, but also his saddest songs, including 'The Pelican Chorus', 'The Yonghy-bonghy-bò', and 'The Dong with a Luminous Nose' See ODNB.

Contemporary armorial bookplate of the Tatton family - presumably at this date that of Thomas Egerton Tatton (1846-1924).
