Top edge of text block gilt; bottom and fore-edges of text block untrimmed.Some foxing on preliminaries, which persists throughut the text block. 100 full colour lithographic plates of Menpes' illustrations of children around the world. Preliminary page bears author's signature below a designation that the book is number 277 of 500 'editions de luxe'. A beautiful copy in near-fine conditon.. One of limited series of numbered signed copies.

Original blue cloth, gilt titling to the front board and the spine. The binding is a little rubbed and bumped, the endpapers are tanned, there is a bookplate to the front pastedown, the verso of the frontispiece is spotted, and a couple of the tissue protectors are chipped. Overall, this book is in good plus condition. Part of the A&C Black series of colour books, and one of the rarest of the lot, as only 1000 copies were printed. Inman 657.
