Wear to head and foot of spine and corners of boards; scattered marginal marks and scuffs; pp. 51-52 (a coloured picture of a Cardinal) has been removed and replaced and there is residual tape in the margins which have been trimmed; a good study or reading copy.

Fair (Ex-Library with white sticker on lower spine and inside rear cover; boards are heavily worn/scuffed/smudged; minimal pencil markings to interiortextblock edges are toned/scuffed/smudged; inner hinges are cracked; pages are loose; interior is clean, but lightly toned, with occasional smudging or foxing; some pages are creased.). Turquoise cloth/boards with gilt/teal cover illustration. 129 pp. with 80 bw illustrations and 1 color plate. A lovely book of poetry, stories, and photographs of nature (mostly flowers and birds but also other flora and fauna), as charmingly explained to "Morning Face", the pet name of the author's young grand-daughter. Stratton-Porter was, in addition to a famous author, a well-known naturalist and photographer.

A nice bright and clean copy with light edgewear to the cloth. Unfortunately, the color plate was taped in decades ago by someone who did not know how to "tip" it back in (at least it is present, and in the correct spot). The endpapers have been reglued at the hinges, thus this copy is tight with years of pleasure still in it. 129pp.

Illustrator: The Author. 950 g; 130 pages, illustrated throughout with part page and full-page black-and-white photographs, and with one tipped in plate being page 51/52, a colour illustration of the red Cardinal. The plate is detached partially. Girls' Grammar School prize bookplate dated 1919 on the front end page, bumping and rubbing of the heel of the spine, and the lower corners, as well as the top corner of the front panel, and the head of the spine. The stitching is visible at a couple of the gatherings, and the hinging while complete, is sloppy. The front board is illustrated with a two colour blind stamped and filled illustration of birds crossing in front of reeds, with the sun in the background.
