London: The Illustrated London News, 1861. First printing. Panoramic Print. Very good condition. A very detailed birdseye view of London, drawn by Thomas Sulman engraved by Robert Loudan. Possibly viewed from a hot air balloon above Kennington, depicts the Thames from the Houses of Parliament to St. Katherine's Dock. North of the river landmarks include Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park Corner, the Clock Tower of Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, St. Paul's Cathedral, Monument and the Tower of London, with Regent's Park, Hampstead and Highgate. On the south side of the Thames are Lambeth Palace, Waterloo Station, St. George's Circus and Elephant & Castle. Wood cut engraving, original folds. London: Thomas Sulman, 1868. In excellent condition. Mounted on linen.. 47.4 x 114,8cm. (18.75 x 45,25 inch).. Original antique large woodcut after an print by Halman. This impressive sheet shows Edinburgh from the bird's eye view. The grid pattern of New Town appears in the foreground. The Castle is on the hill centre right, and the Royal Mile can be traced leading down from it to the Holyrood Palace. The hill at the top left is Arthur's Seat. Thomas Sulman was a student and later an engraver for Dante Gabriel Rossetti. He became a specialist in using hot air balloons to produce birds eye views of cities including London, Oxford, Edinburgh, Glasgow and New York.

London., 1876. A large, striking panoramic view of lower Manhattan, that portion that is south of Central Park, looking across the Hudson River from a viewpoint in Hoboken, New Jersey. The borough of Queens is seen clearly across the East River. City Hall, the financial district, Greenwich Village, Chinatown, The Battery, Tribeca and Roosevelt Island are all identified. There is a lot of maritime activity to be seen on each of the rivers. Published as an extra supplement to weekly news journal "The Illustrated London News". Size: 440 x1160 mm. Uncoloured woodcut engraving. Good condition. Panorama has folds and the back has been strengthened. There are repairs to tears in the margins. Presented in handmade wooden frame.
