Tristram and introduction by Edward Atkinson. 14pp of text are foxed, but the tissue-protected plates are quite clean. Short 4to, original gilt-stamped pictorial green cloth, a.e.g. (binding rubbed but sound and attractive; endpapers replaced). London: James Nisbet and Co., 1883. Third edition. Boards thick, all edges gilt, gilt dentelles. Raised bands on spine. Spine is faded but still looks nice on a shelf. Some scuffing to front board but would still look nice facing out. Bumping/scuffing to back board. Marbled endpapers. Foxing throughout, but the plates are still vibrant and the foxing is mostly to the overlays. Binding sturdy.

All plates with tissue-guard. Spine rebacked. Heavy rubbing with moderate abrasion along edges. Corners bumped and rubbed (not affecting pages). Boards discolored and soiled. Back cover damp stained. Minor age toning along paper margin. Tissue guard of first plate creased and slightly chipped along edges. Text pages missing (Preface and Introduction). Binding in overall poor to fair, interior in good+, plates in very good condition.
