Diodati (6 June 1576 3 October 1649) was a Genevan-born Italian Calvinist theologian and translator. He was the first translator of the Bible into Italian from Hebrew and Greek sources. Born of a noble family originally from Lucca in Italy, the Diodati's were exiled on account of their Protestantism. His family considered themselves Italian "di nation lucchese", of Lucchese nationality. He and his father Carlo Diodati were part of the "Italian Cabal", a group of about sixty noble Luchessi families who had emigrated to Geneva.
