Sphere Books, 1975. Mass market paperback Used - very good condition. Book is clean and tight with some shelf wear. Price sticker removed poorly- 1/4" spot with cover ink gone.. Scuffing along edges of spine and bottom edge of book. Back cover is creased near spine and at the lower-left corner. Pages are yellowed with age and there is additional discoloration on the first and last free end-papers and on the inside of front and back covers. Light marking in black marker along top edge of pages. No markings inside the book. Photos are of the copy we have at Barbed Wire Books.

Book is very nearly fine, a mild spine slant, otherwise, sharp, clean, solid, bright, in red cloth with gilt spine titles; dust jacket shows a ragged edge to rear flap, a short closed edge tear to spine crown at the fold, minor wear at both spine tips, else bright, near fine; lovely example of this hard-to-find book. Photos are of the actual book on offer, not generic images (the photo of the interior of the dust jacket has been slightly darkened in order to show the ragged edge of the rear flap more clearly).

New York: The Macmillan Company, 1967. Personal copy of author with her blindstamp (library of Sue Grafton SG) which she only used for this book as far as I know. She had multiple coies of it and this book appears to have gone to her literary agent H. N. Swanson to try and obtain film rights from. His rubber stamp HN Swanson Inco on Sunset Blvd is at bottom of same front endpaer where her blindstamp presents. Swanson represented the pinnacle of American literary authors for forty years such as F. Scott Ftizgerald, Raymond Chandler, William Faulkner to name just a few. This was author's first book many years before she began her mystery series. It has suffered from wear with small triangular scraping or scalping of cloth from base of spine and another smaller one at bottom of front board near gutter. No other marlomgs. Hinge still strong. Scape did not affect text blcok. Price intact jacket has same scrape area which caused chip to jacket of similar sizes. Minor chip at top of rear… Read more
