N.p.: Les Films Marceau, 1954. Two vintage French lobby cards from the 1954 Italian film. "Smalfimstudio" stamp on the verso of both, one also with a "Royal Films S.A." stamp, crossed out in manuscript red pencil, on verso. The film that launched Federico Fellini, and his wife Masina, to international stardom. Gelsomina (Giulietta Masina) is sold off by her mother to the brutish circus strongman Zampano (Anthony Quinn) as wife and partner for his traveling show, enduring abuse and cruelty. When she meets street entertainer Il Matto ("The Fool") (Richard Basehart), she finds a kindred spirit, inciting Zampano's jealousy and tempting her to leave him. Academy Award winner for Best Foreign Film, nominated for Best Screenplay. Set in and shot on location in Lazio and Abruzzo, Italy. 11.5 x 9.25 inches.
