The first song is Back in the USSR, with Russian text by M. Podberezovskii. Issued under the authorship of the Lennon–McCartney duo, although in fact it was written by Paul McCartney. The title parodies Chuck Berry's song Back in the U.S.A., and the refrain refers to the Beach Boys' California Girls. The latter idea was suggested to McCartney by the group's vocalist Mike Love.
