Unique archive concerning Soviet female military aviator with original pilot's flying logbook. This is an archive of a senior lieutenant Galina Burdina-Ermak (1919-after 2007?), who served at the 586th Fighter Aviation Regiment, one of the three Soviet women's aviation regiments founded by Marina Raskova at the start of the Second World War.
Initially women were barred from combat. However, Joseph Stalin issued an order to deploy three women's air force units on 8 October 1941. These Soviet airwomen are credited with being the first of their sex to serve in combat. The 586th Fighter Regiment was the first of the regiments to become operational in April, 1942. The unit mission was not to hunt enemy aircrafts but to guard special targets from destruction. Originally there were two squadrons of ten aircraft each, manned only by women pilots.
Galina Burdina studied at the civil aviation pilot school in Ulyanovsk and later worked as a pilot instructor and trained military… Read More

Translation by A. Radlova. Preface by K. Derzhavin.Afterword by M. Morozov.
One of 10 000 copies published.
Signed and inscribed by the translator: "Dorogoi moei Sarushke / ot Annushki. / 20-X-37" [To my dear Sarushka from Annushka. October 20, 1937].
First edition of this translation.
Anna Radlova (1891–1949), a poet, literary salon-holder, and wife of Sergei Radlov, the theatre director, prepared the translation of this book. Her Shakespeare translations of Romeo and Juliet (1933), Othello (1935), and Hamlet (1937) were highly popular in the early 1930s and were used in the theatre productions by her husband in the Leningrad Malyi Theater. Radlova's translations were considered innovative and precise, and Boris Pasternak, the next translator of Hamlet, admired her work for its authenticity. During World War II, Anna and her husband were evacuated from Leningrad to the North Caucasus and later ended up in Germany. In 1945 after returning they were accused of treason. Anna Radlova died in a GULAG.… Read More

It was banned and confiscated by the czarist police Kollontai herself was exiled from Russia in 1908.Kollontai did not identify as a feminist. She understood "feminism" as bourgeois politics, the politics of a particular class of women. However, she helped liberalize divorce, gave women access to their own earnings, and advocated for women's right to sexual autonomy. Kollontai also was the first woman in history to become an official member of a governing cabinet. The book was issued by the important female publisher Mariia Malykh (1879-1967). Her Marxist publishing house was mostly concentrated on social and political issues. In 1909 it was forced to be closed and Maria emigrated to Switzerland. Description:
First Russian edition.Lily Braun (1865-1916), a German feminist writer and politician of the Social Democratic Party. She wrote about the exploitation of female labor under various economic systems, the necessity of insurance, the politics of women's rights in different parties, and responsibilities of women in the political struggle. The book was translated from the German edition Die Frauen und die Politik (first published Berlin, 1903). Very likely this book was issued by the important female publisher Mariia Malykh (1879-1967). Her Marxist publishing house was mostly concentrated on social and political themes. The literature, which she was afraid to publish legally under her own name, she edited under the name of the nonexistent 'Molot' publishing house (not to be confused with the same name publisher, which worked in Odessa and was also engaged in the publication of political issues). OCLC locates three copies of this edition in the USA: in the Harvard University Library, the Yale University…

Description:
This book was prepared by Aleksandra Bogat (1898-?), the Cavalry Maiden and the head of intelligence of the 21st Cavalry Regiment in the 1st Cavalry Army (also known as "Budyonny's Cavalry Amy"). Unfortunately, we do not know anything about the author's later life, except that she wrote several feminist brochures and books. For the first time, Russian women were allowed to participate in the war as soldiers not nurse only in 1917 during The Great War. The Provisional Government allowed the formation of separate women's battalions. During the Civil War, new authorities lifted old restrictions and allowed women join to army as soldiers. This book talks about this women's experience for the first time in Russia. For censorship reasons, stories about women's battalions during the Great War in Russian were published only at the end of the XXth century. The book also includes the story about Paraskovia Gedymin, the Khakas (in the book – the Buryat), who become the first representative of the Khakass…
