Inscribed, on half title, by Lawson Wood "to Captain W. G. Scott with Lawson Wood's Kindest Regards Roehampton April 1917". Very good in slightly rubbed illustrated boards with bookplate of W. Gilbert Scott on front pastedown and later (1952) signature of John G. Cole on ffep.

This is a complete run of the eight issues of this inimitable magazine supplement humorously illustrating life in the trenches for "Old Bill" during the first world war. Very good condition but wrappers not bound in. Two volumes in marked brown cloth with gilt titles to spines. Volume 1 is a ninth edition but no edition indicated on the other 7 volumes. London: Harper & Brothers, 1927. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 4to - over 9" tall. Pat Sullivan. A collection of humorous cat based poems with line drawings by Pat Sullivan using his creation, Felix the Cat, to illustrate the poems. Generally very good in blue cloth with orange title cover tipped on to top board. Part of orange title rubbed away leaving a small hole in the design where the blue cloth shows through (see photos).

London & Melbourne: T. Goode, 1860. Soft cover. Good/No Jacket. Booklet 17.7 X 10.4cm. This is an uncommon chapbook published in the mid 19th Century featuring two poems. The first concerns a monkey kept as a pet by Farmer Brown and his activities around the farm. The second poem is a fable concerning a butterfly that wished to get out and explore the world, against his parent's advice, but ended up being caught and died. Generally in good condition, internally soiled (see photos) with a contemporary hand coloured title page which is reproduced, in monochrome, on the top wrap. 12pp with 5 woodcuts and one woodcut tailpiece. The Young Butterfly is unillustrated. Pink paper wraps 17.7 X 10.4cm. Paper wraps chipped with a 1.5cm portion missing from top inner hinge. Lower corner of wrap missing and associated curling of subsequent pages without loss. Rear wraps marked and missing portions of three of its corners. An, uncommon, humorous selection of comments on the subject of Cornwall with tipped in photographs and jokes. Self published and numbered in a limited edition of 250 copies with the number139 inserted by hand. Very good in stiff card which has minor scuffing to base of rear cover and faint water stain to base of top cover (see photos).

This is a complete set of the twelve caricatures by Ronald Searle that were issued as supplements to the humorous magazine Punch between 1956 1957. All plates present and in very good, unmarked, condition, interleaved and bound in maroon cloth with gilt title to top board. Rear board water stained through to rear endpapers but plates unaffected. London: S. W. Partridge, 1904. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Louis Wain. A collection of monochrome illustrated poems and articles by the renowned cat artist Louis Wain. Undated, but probably 1904. This edition, an octavo of 88 pages, has only one coloured plate - the frontispiece unlike another edition of 52 pages which has a number of coloured plates. This copy lacks the Lifebuoy soap advert which has been cut out. Spine holding but title worn away. Prize label on front endpaper has been scratched out (see photos) and there is staining to corner of last few leaves in which one page has had its corner torn out but with no loss of text. Closed tear to top of advert leaf at end.

A collection of poems illustrated by two book illustrators in their usual styles featuring "Bonzo" and monkeys, etc. Generally in very good condition in original illustrated boards a little marked down the spine (see photo). Internally very good but with some nasty red biro marks on only one page (see photo).

Sherwood, Neeley & Jones, 1812. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - 10.7" tall. Edward Bocquet. A very good copy of the Letters of Junius with 12 portraits engraved by Edward Bocquet after original paintings. Collated complete but with exotic mispagination in parts. Page 109 has some light ink marks from a letter that has been laid on to the text. Marginal annotations to page 13 and page 61 part offset to page 60 with no loss. Page 44 has an ink stain which has an offset to page 45 although, curiously, there is a plate between the pages which is unmarked (see photos). Light 1" stain through final 4 leaves, without loss. Fully bound in diced leather with gilt title to spine and previous owner's ex libris to fep. Preliminary blank has an 1837 presentation inscription from a local businessman in Wootton Bassett.

Denmark, 1908. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. Folio - over 12 - 15" tall. The entire 9th year of this Danish periodical with 52 bound copies of the adult humorous and satirical weekly from October 1907 to September 1908 with wraps bound in. Wraps printed in colour as are some advertisements and cartoons. Very good in quarter binding with mottled boards. Wrappers are gently satirical using caricatures and reflect the political events of the day including digs at King Edward VII (married to Alexandra, his Danish wife). Please note that this volume is very large and heavy (just over 4Kg) and will require additional postage to ship it abroad, e.g. Denmark (+£20). Paris: L'Assiette au Beurre, 1907. Soft cover. Very Good/No Jacket. Raphael Kirchner. An issue of this satirical French magazine consisting of the story of the Art Nouveau bacillus and its effects. Illustrated throughout, in colour and monochrome, by the Austrian artist, Raphael Kirchner, with text in French and German. Generally very good internally in original wrappers which are foxed and have been reattached to spine where staples have failed. Uncommon.

Paris: L'Assiette au Beurre, 1901. Soft cover. Very Good/No Jacket. A. Guillaume. The special issue of this satirical French magazine concentrating on the status of aviation at the time. Illustrated throughout, in colour and monochrome, with all illustrations satirising the potential future with balloons playing a significant part. Text in French. Generally very good in original wrappers which are a little dusty. With 4 fold out lithographs depicting hunting using falcons instead of hounds, the Parisien Grand-Prix with jockeys riding racing balloons, chaos in the skies with all sorts of flying craft causing congestion and a bullfighting scene with the bull attacking 2 aerial matadors. Complete but mispaginated and with trivial chipping to the edges.
