Old folds, lightly toned & foxed, moderately tattered (including creasing & closed tears), couple of small losses briefly affecting text (now reinforced with archival tissue), small rubber-stamped mark at the lower margin of the front page, otherwise very good.
Contents Include: Surrender of New Orleans; Siege of Yorktown; Affairs in Tennessee; Mr. Jefferson Davis; and much more.

Old folds, slightly toned & soiled, brief edge wear, some creasing, short pencil annotation at the top margin, small rubber-stamped mark in the bottom margin, otherwise very good or better.
A short-lived publication providing news, literature, &, of course, advertisements, Baltimore Saturday Night was first issued in 1869 & ceased in 1875. It was apparently continued as the Sunday Herald thereafter.

Original newspaper, single sheet measuring 18 inches by 23 inches folded once vertically forming 4 pages. Text in four columns, printed on laid paper. Brigham/ Bibliography of American Newspapers 1690-1820 (1962 edition), vol. I, pp. 261 & 262.
Moderately tattered & creased, toned, foxed, lightly stained, signature in old ink at the top margin of "Rev. Joseph Glass," otherwise very good.
Previous owner Rev. Joseph Glass was one of five ministers who organized the Presbytery of Winchester, Virginia. He is cited in Graham's Planting of the Presbyterian Church in Northern Virginia.
This issue features lengthy reporting on current considerations in the House of Representatives involving the Louisiana Purchase. Also includes period advertising for, among other things, a run away slave:

Baltimore: Printed by Sherwood & Co., 1849. 48 pages. Publisher's gilt lettered brown cloth. OCLC locates two copies only (accession # 29415313) as of 1/26/2024.
Worn: Binding faded & soiled, gilt dull, stained & foxed, small label & brief illegible annotation at the front pastedown, still a useful copy.
This copy with the small booksellers' label of G. & L. Marrell of Frederick, Maryland at the front pastedown.
Uncommon, the OCLC entry does not mention the inclusion of the Constitution which has its own title page & separate pagination,
Publisher Elias Heiner, D.D. (1810 - 1863) was ordained in 1833 & served as pastor in Baltimore from 1835 untill his death.

Stress at one staple (still secure), moderately rubbed & a bit sunned along the spine, brief edge wear including a small diagonal loss at lower corner of the front cover, a good or better copy.
Not only a wonderful gathering of recipes for vegetarian cuisine from a group of talented amateur chefs but also a nostalgic memento of Bethesda's cherished radio station. Broadcast from "high atop the Triangle Towers," WHFS was one of the country's first progressive rock stations. Contributors include Jane Frost, Darci Vanderhoff, Laurel Vaughn, Daniel McDonald, Ellen Cohen, & many others.

No place [Philadelphia ?]: published by the library, engraved by S. Allardice, no date [1795 - 1803]. Letterpress bookplate measuring approximately 3.75 inches by 2.75 inches, the text, with flourish below, within an oval ornamental border, signed in print at the lower right by the engraver.
No evidence of removal, left & bottom edges untrimmed, toned, foxed, otherwise good.
The Library Company of Baltimore was established in 1795 and had 226 members by 1797. Operations ceased in 1854.
Charles Dexter Allen, in American Book-Plates: A Guide to their Study, notes that Allardice was apprenticed to Robert Scott in Philadelphia and that "only one example of the book-plate work of Allardice is now at hand, and that is simply an engraved label for the Library Company of Baltimore."

Old folds, tattered & creased, losses in the margins not affecting text, separated about half way at the vertical fold, toned & lightly foxed, a good or so copy & still quite useful.
A rare example of a short-lived Federalist newspaper published & presumably edited by Charles Prentiss who is described in the Encyclopedia Virginia as "a fiery Boston writer." In addition to political content reflective of the then defeated Federalist Party who lost to the Democratic-Republican Party of Thomas Jefferson, this issue includes poignant if now repulsive advertising:
