Cleland, printed in black ink within an elaborate ornamental border in green depicting vines on a trellis surmounting a fountain. Publisher's brown paper over boards backed in gilt-lettered black cloth.
Binding moderately soiled, edges rubbed, corners bruised, roughly opened at title page causing a couple of nicks, occasional handling marks within, otherwise good or better.
A beautifully printed & relatively early example of the work of this important small fine press. Presents articles on gardening reprinted from various sources.

Binding soiled & moderately rubbed, text block beginning to crack in a couple of places (still secure), previous owner's bookplate at the front pastedown, sporadic minor foxing, otherwise good or better. Prospectus soiled & folded.

No place [Arlington, Virginia ?]: The Winter Wheat Press, printed by E.L. Hildreth & Co., [Brattleboro, Vermont], "Second printing, December, 1936, two hundred copies, all coloured by hand." Single sheet, lithographed & hand colored, measuring 12.5 inches by 10.5 inches folding to 6.25 inches by 5.25 inches (as issued) forming vii pages plus cover.
Lightly toned, trace edge wear, "313" in ink at the colophon page, otherwise Near Fine.
A lovely example of the art of Prentiss Taylor, beautifully printed in a small edition. The text provides a splendid recipe for "Claret Cup" & "Shrimp & Saffron." As noted on the colophon, "Garlands may be ordered from Prentiss Taylor, 4631 15th Street North, Arlington, Virginia." Mr.Taylor's work is in the collections of the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American Art; The Phillips Collection; Gibbes Museum of Art; Museum of New Mexico; the Metropolitan Museum of Art; Whitney Museum of American Art Fisk University Galleries, and Greenville County Museum of Art.

Die-cut six piece calendar printed on thick card stock presenting the months of the year two to a panel, each panel measuring approximately 2.5 inches by 5 inches, with pastoral illustrations in color & bible quotes. The panels were originally attached by ribbon, now lacking, & designed to hang. Moderately toned & soiled, January - February rubbed briefly affecting lettering, one corner chipped away, lacking ribbon ties, otherwise Good & still quite attractive. Nicely printed bucolic scenes & quotes from the bible, quite uncommon!

Description:
No place [Philadelphia ?]: published by the library, engraved by S. Allardice, no date [1795 - 1803]. Letterpress bookplate measuring approximately 3.75 inches by 2.75 inches, the text, with flourish below, within an oval ornamental border, signed in print at the lower right by the engraver.
No evidence of removal, left & bottom edges untrimmed, toned, foxed, otherwise good.
The Library Company of Baltimore was established in 1795 and had 226 members by 1797. Operations ceased in 1854.
Charles Dexter Allen, in American Book-Plates: A Guide to their Study, notes that Allardice was apprenticed to Robert Scott in Philadelphia and that "only one example of the book-plate work of Allardice is now at hand, and that is simply an engraved label for the Library Company of Baltimore."

(excerpted from the colophon) With TLS laid in on letterhead from Kanner to Don Bruckner, then editor of the New York Times Book Review, apparently enclosed with this copy in seeking review. Lacking the plastic slipcase, binding slightly soiled,one corner bruised, otherwise fine. The first publication from this small fine press which was awarded the Rounce & Coffin Award for excellence in book design in 1997. Per OCLC, an "Illustrated companion to Moby Dick containing 12 engraved portraits of Pequod's crew with accompanying text by Melville, Shakespeare and Milton."

Saint Paul, [Minnesota]: Hand-printed at Midnight Paper Sales Press, 1981. First edition, limited to 70 copies of which this is no. 62, signed "Gaylord" at the colophon. 16mo (approx. 6" x 4¾"), three unbound sheets folded once vertically forming 12 unnumbered pages plus plain grey end sheets, laid-in to blue pictorial wraps decorated with a diminutive Schanilec woodcut. The title page features a woodcut printed from a magnesium plate. Additionally laid-in is a small, laser-printed broadside, the opening line reading "The Ninth section of Thomas McGrath's epic poem…," apparently one of approximately 20 examples which were not included in copies issued prior to 1991. Donnelley & sons (with label tipped to the first blank page of all volumes), the spines in six compartments separated by raised bands, lettered or decorated in gilt in all compartments. Top edges gilt.
Lightly rubbed, several corners bumped & a couple rubbed through, otherwise Very Good.
An attractive set in a lovely fine binding of the Pulitzer prize winning biography of Walter Hines Page.
