Publisher's light blue cloth lettered in plum on the spine, in pictorial dust jacket. Gunn/ Gay American Novels, 1870–1970: p 104 Upper margin & spine extremities sunned, edges lightly rubbed, text slightly toned & occasionally foxed, about Very Good in moderately rubbed dust jacket with short tears & small losses mostly at the top & bottom of the spine, Good or better. Partially autobiographical, the novel centers around young Jeff Ramsey & his "unsentimental education" in "the gay, tawdry, amoral, sometimes brutal world of a seedy summer stock company" Author Burwell was himself an actor & director as well as the founder of The Belfast Maskers in Belfast, Maine.

Moore, signed on a laid in sheet by author Hewes & Brigadier General James L. Collins, Jr., Chief of Military History. Octavo (9.5" x 6.25"), xvii & 452 pages, illustrated, plus [10] folded leaves of plates. Publisher's textured maroon fabricoid simulating crushed morocco lettered in gilt on the spine & decorated in gilt with the Seal of the United States & the name of presentee Moore on the upper cover.
Spine gilt a bit rubbed, otherwise very good or better.
The first volume in the special studies series published by the Center of Military History, United States Army, this a unique copy which was presented to Lieutenant General Harold G. Moore. Moore was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for valor at the Battle of Drang during the Vietnam War.
