Author Kirk presents a fascinating history of the club which was actually a social organization with no connection to hunting. Pooshee Plantation, where many club meetings were held, succumbed to the creation of Lake Moultrie in 1939.

A lovely map with strong visual impact map showing 28 South Carolina counties which reflects the configuration prior to 1826. The state now has 46 counties. George W. Aimar established his pharmacy in 1852. During the Civil War the facility served as an official dispensary for the Confederate States of America and the upper floors were used as a hospital. Ceasing business in 1978, the pharmacy was operated by the Aimar family for 126 years.

Editor John T. Harllee was one of the founders of the South Carolina Libertarian Party. His newsletter was published from 1972 until his death in 1994. Articles & essays include: "Waste of Money," "Do We Need a License to Die?" "Decriminalize Pothibition Now," & more.

Columbia, South Carolina: State Printing Company, (1970). First edition, this copy inscribed, signed & dated by the author ("Sam L") in ink at the half-title page to Cartha"Deke" DeLoach, then number 3 at the FBI. Octavo (9.25 x 6.25"), xv & 407 pages including numerous illustrations (some in color, some folding) Publisher's white cloth lettered in blue at the spine & upper cover, in pictorial dust jacket.
Inscription faintly offsets to title page, otherwise fine in very good dust jacket, lightly browned, foxed & soiled mostly at the spine, with modest edge wear incuding short tears & small losses.
The author was the long-time editor & publisher of The State newspaper.
Cartha "Deke" DeLoach was deputy associate director of the FBI, the third highest ranking position behind only J Edgar Hoover and Clyde Tolson.
