Presents a wide range of rubber footwear primarily for men, occasionally for women, & mostly manufactured by Hood. A couple of other manufacturers are represented including Dixie, Old Colony, & Mohawk.

Soiled, foxed & spotted, modest edge wear including a couple of small losses, upper wrap partially separated, previous owner's name in pencil at front wrap, label pasted in at the last page of text apparently correcting an error in the address of a retailer, good or better. Formed in 1847, the company was the family business of Samuel J. Tilden, Governor of New York & 1876 Democratic nominee for president. Their most successful product, known as "Tilden's Extract," was extracted from cannabis indica &, as described on p. 21, "specially recommended for tetanus, hydrophobia, neuralgia, gout, rheumatism, epidemic cholera, , convulsions, hysteria, mental depression, insanity, and uterine hemorrhage." [Morristown, New York: Judson Pill Co.], printed by Cosack & Co, of Buffalo & Chicago, no date, ca 1881 (endorsements so dated). 24mo, 32 pages. Original pictorial sewn paper wraps, the upper cover in lithographed color. Slightly soiled & tanned, small rubber stamp of distributing agent J. B. Nies of Howard in Centre County, Pennsylvania at the rear wrap, otherwise Near Fine. The Judson Pill Company was a dummy company of William Henry Comstock, perhaps best known as the purveyor of "Dr. Morse's Indian Root Pills." The formula for Judson's Mountain Herb Pills, which cured every possible complaint, was apparently given to a Dr. Cunard by an Aztec Chief as a gift following the doctor's life-saving treatment of the Chief's daughter. Dr. Cunard, and Dr. Morse, though celebrated and fabulously wealthy, were apparently never actually seen by the public. Not found in OCLC as of 8/13/2020.

Yoshimura (1921 - 1997) was a distinguished bonsai master largely credited with introducing traditional Japanese techniques and aesthetics to Western bonsai enthusiasts.
