This book was printed by Lydia R. Bailey, an early American female printer who was competitive in a trade dominated by men. She took over her husband's failing business upon his death.

A splendid promotional pamphlet which describes and illustrates hotels, "Residential Advantages," business, demographics, government, education (including "Institutions for Negro Education"), and more! "General Sherman was unable to destroy Atlanta with fire and sword. No place, not published, no date (ca. 1930). single sheet, 16mo (6.25" x 4.75"), Recorded in ink on Winchester, Virginia letterhead (106 North Market Street), probably in response to a request from Stewart or William H. Bell.
Removed from a scrapbook, small stains from glue on the verso, folded once horizontally, lightly toned, otherwise Fine.
The authenticity of MacMillan's autograph is unconditionally guaranteed.
MacMillan (1874 - 1970), during a 46 year career, made over 30 expeditions to the Arctic. He accompanied Robert E. Peary in 1908, purportedly the first expedition to reach the geographic North Pole, however turned back after his feet froze.

An elaborate menu for a "complimentary dinner presented to Col. D.S. Brown" at Manhattan's illustrious Colonial Club "by a few of his friends." Col. Brown was the first president of the club and about to embark on a tour of Egypt & Palestine. Two leaves bear the signatures in ink of attendees. The elegant meal featured Bouchée à la Montglas, Canvas-back Duck, & Diamond-back Terrapin a la Maryland.
