Inscribed and signed by author on ffep "Ken ..... , / from shipmate / Goodridge MacDonald / London, May 3, 1959." With a few manuscript corrections in the same ink noted. The Roberts family held a preeminent position in Canadian letters for most of the 19th century and Goodridge MacDonald also worked as an editor of The Montreal Herald.

Volume with light edge wear and some small splash marks to the first few pages, else unmarked. Price-intact DJ is soiled with a few chips and small tears. Credited artwork by Clara Elsene Peck on the DJ and glossy duo-tone endpapers, [who] "... was a member of the American Watercolor Society, exhibited extensively and won many awards."
