Description:
UK: Cumbrian Railways Association, 2004. Book. Very Good. Soft cover. 2nd Edition. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. When McGowen Gradon wrote this book over fifty years ago, the line of the Cleator & Workington Junction Railway was more or less as it had been built 70 years earlier. Only a few sections had been lost, and although the sparse passenger service had disappeared in the early 1930s, the line still fulfilled at least some part of its original purpose - to serve the transport needs of the coal, iron and steel industries of West Cumberland. On the inside of the front cover is a printed label from the publishers stating " Dear reader, there is a line missing in the sentance running over pages 15 and 20 of this book. And the caption on the lower photograph on page 27 isn't correct. " There is a small crease across the front lower corner..
