Description:
A collection of 14 pamphlets, brochures and booklets relating to aspects of California history. I have been able to find most of these items offered for sale online, and if you were to buy the cheapest ones out there, you would end up paying $170 or more and still not have them all. I think my price is a bargain. The items included are as follows:
The Story Told by a Fallen Redwood: by Emanuel Fritz. 1949, 8 pages, very little wear. Published by Save-the-Redwoods League (STRL). Muir Woods: Two copies, 1954 and 1957. Both are bifold sheets equivalent to six pages. On the 1954 edition, the first fold has failed. The 1957 edition has very little wear. Published by the National Park Service. A Living Link in History: by John C. Merriam. 1950, 8 pages, little wear. Published by STRL. Motorland, Volume LXXV, No. 3: September 1954, 28 pages. Published by the California State Automobile Association. East Bay Heritage: Vignettes of the Bay Area's Colorful Past, Volumes 1-3: Date unknown, but after 1971 for… Read More

Description:
No dust jacket. Paper covered boards show very little wear, with one small tear (5 mm) at the lower right front corner. Pages are clean, tight and unmarked, with many illustrations. Owner's name and a small notation inside the front cover, dated 1928. As special and rare as this book is, even more special is an inclusion that comes with it. Stored inside the front cover since 1928 is Yosemite Natural History Association Bulletin 2, A Distributional List of Yosemite Birds. This fifteen-page unstapled brochure was written by Enid Michael, a far more famous person than the writer of the book. Michael was the first female ranger/naturalist at Yosemite, arriving in 1920, and she wrote more about the history and natural history of Yosemite than anyone before or since. The pairing of this bulletin and book makes this a very special item.

Description:
Quite rare. A book put out by the Northern Pacific Railway to advertise some of the places you could visit along their routes. Contains many photographs, including panoramic foldouts of three or four panels wide. The cover is torn along the lower 5 cm of the spine and the book has been exposed to moisture. Not currently moist, but there are a few areas of mildew stains, mainly on the front endpaper and the three following pages. One of the foldout panels has torn free, others may be fragile. A few of the pages have pencil check marks as if these were the places the original owner managed to visit. Among the locations featured are The Shores of Kitchigami, The Sepulchre of Lame Deer, The Yellowstone Wonderland, The Lewis and Clark Exposition, and The Shasta-Northern Pacific Route. The frontispiece is the only color illustration.
