Kuzmin was a psychology professor and the creator of the first ever laboratory of social psychology (in 1962) in the Soviet Union. In his Basics of Social Psychology Kuzmin touches on the subjects of the main Socialism ideas - collective labor, free education, etc. - and their effects on people's psychology. Even though the book was printed in an edition of 10 000, OCLC does not list a single copy in major libraries and institutions.

The series of writings in this book were considered by the Russian Bolsheviks to be some of Lenin's outstanding revolutionary works. The articles were mostly based on the victory of Marxism over the Russian intelligentsia's Populism, which Lenin branded "an utopian perversion of Socialism.

This work was prepared for the 17th World Congress of Sociology in Varna, Bulgaria, September 14-19, 1970. The publication was largely based on extensive comparative studies of the labor force in the Soviet Union and these in the United States and the Western European countries. It was aimed at "building a system of optimal models for planning the Socialist economy." There were only 500 copies ever printed and OCLC cannot locate a single one in libraries and institutions.
