First edition in this format reprinted and translated from the Iskra Period; volume 4 of the Little Lenin Library; 8vo; pp. [6], 7-175, [1]; publisher's list of Marxist books to back cover; original printed paper wrappers; small spots of foxing to covers; a few crease lines to corners; age-darkening in places; some wear along edges of spine and wrappers; penciled-in notes and underlining to first half of the book; corners of the first 14 pages slightly bent. The series of writings in this book were considered by the Russian Bolsheviks to be some of Lenin's outstanding revolutionary works. The articles were mostly based on the victory of Marxism over the Russian intelligentsia's Populism, which Lenin branded "an utopian perversion of Socialism.
