1927. Beautiful signed sanguine copper etching on heavy weight paper, with artist's signature in pencil to the lower right corner. We think it says Eden. The subject is a graceful female in her lingerie. She is stood touching her stocking top, and is a perfect example of the 1920s fashion for 'Boudoir art'. Under glass, in a wood effect frame with a cream, lace edged mount. Image measures 355 x 180 mm (14 x 7 inches). Total size (in frame) 540 x 320 mm (21¼ x 12½ inches).

Warsaw: Spółdzielnia Wydawnicza "Czytelnik" , 1951. A very nice set of these Polish political caricatures from 1951. Four language edition, with text in Polish, Russian, French and English. This is the Second Edition of this work, first published the previous year. The whole contains a stiff (and anonymous) hardback portfolio folder, which holds a 24 page introductory booklet, a stiff card title page and 71 colour or black and white card caricature leaves. Believed fully complete. Conforms to OCLC Number / Unique Identifier: 829888778. All the elements are in good, clean condition, with a touch of darkening to the pages only. A little edge wear to the folder. Inside, both works are clean, with a little darkening only. Both bear the bookplate and discrete reference library stamps for the Prentenkabinet of the University of Leiden.. Two works, offered together, on the subject of the acquisition of artworks by American museums. Both written by Edward Detraz Bettens. His mother (Louise E Bettens) had been a patron of the Fogg Museum's art collection. Each work was printed in 650 copies (un-numbered) for private circulation (it seems primarily among institutions and art buyers). Kickstarter funded, this is Efram's first book; images of street life. The book comes with a stamped envelope, including 10 postcards of photographs in the book. "Everything about this... project reeks of a love for the cities he lives in and travels to" (Michael Kirchoff review). 61 pages. 195 by 280 mm (7¾ by 11 inches).

Göttingen: Steidl, 2017. Revised Steidl edition (first published as two volumes in 1977). This large format recreates the full original sequence of photos in one volume for the first time. Rich with 100 images illustrating Eggleston's pilgrimage from Memphis to the small town of Plains, Georgia (home of Jimmy Carter), where in November 1976 Carter was elected 39th President of the United States. Lonesome roads, train tracks, cars, gas stations and houses... 340 x 260 mm (13½ x 10¼ inches). In a very good condition - both inside and out. Lloyd Fonvielle says in the book's introduction: 'The photographs have a quietude and unsentimental romanticism, as well as an edge of poignance, which belie the expectations of hopefulness or portentousness suggested by a knowledge of the time and place in which they were made. An attractive copy. Printed in red and black on paper made in Ireland. Published by Elizabeth Corbet Yeats at the house of Evelyn Gleeson in Dundrum. [1], 55, [1] pp. 215 x 150 mm (8½ x 6 inches). Elizabeth Corbet Yeats was the sister of W.B. Yeats. She was a founder of Dundrum Press. The press published 11 books. She worked alongside Evelyn Gleeson, an English embroiderer. Relations were strained, and the press ended in 1908. Elizabeth (known as Lolly) went on to found Cuala Press with W.B. Gleeson continued Dun Emer after the split, and after her death it continued until 1964.

Illustrated in b/w by Ed Emshwiller. Dust jacket is in a good condition with only minor shelf wear, and one very small chip to top at front. Inside, the book is very clean and fresh. Previous owner's gift message in pen to half title. Overall a great copy of the sequel to Ellison's speculative fiction collection from five years previous: Dangerous Visions. The book jacket's description closes by saying "This book takes off where Dangerous Visions stopped and it is a better book than Dangerous Visions". 830 pages. 225 x 145 mm (8¾ x 5¾ inches).

London: Seeleys, 1828. First Edition. All published of this Anti-Catholic journal. Begun in July 1827, it ceased in 1828. Brown buckram boards with gilt titles to the spine. Volumes I & 2 bound as one. Bookplate of the Law Society to the inside board. Contemporary owner's signature to the half title. Contents to the beginning of volume I. The boards are in excellent condition. The pages of the journals are very clean and tidy, with only a touch of foxing or edge wear to them. The contents are a variety of articles and letters aimed at proving the superiority of the the Protestant Faith over Popish Superstition. There is even an article on Prophecies showing the overthrow of the Roman Church in volume II. It seems that the editors didn't prophecies the demise of the journal, as it ends at the end of the final issue without any comment. ii, 1-380. 1-288 pp.

1903. Four documents concerned with the Paddington Estate in West London. The monks of Westminster had land in Paddington from the 11th Century. After the Reformation, these rested with the Bishop of London. From the late 19th Century, these were gradually sold of through holding companies, the last being sold in the 1980's. These documents comprise: July 1903 - A counterpart licence for 14 Cleveland Square with permissions to renovations and changes to the property. 4 pages. April 1913 - A counterpart licence to add a garage for private motor cars to 7 Chilworth Mews. 3 pages and a large drawn handcoloured architectural plan of the front of the building and ground floor (on glassine). Blank to verso. 215 x 155 mm (8½ x 6 inches). Known initially as "the girl with the curls", Mary Pickford (1892-1979) was set to become a pioneer of early cinema. A talented performer, creative producer and astute businessperson, Pickford helped to shape the film industry we still know today, having joined Douglas Fairbanks, D.W. Griffith and Charlie Chaplin to form United Artists.
