Blue cloth boards with gilt lettering and design. Boards have a few scuff marks. Clean and square. Binding is tight. 6.25 x 9.5 inches. xiv, 683 pages. Gift inscription on ffep by Robert "Jack" Merrill Goff (1898-1955), the Secretary to the Headmaster at the academy in the 1930's. The book was gifted by Goff to "Sergeant and Mrs. Patrick L. Slavin" (Pat "The best sergeant in the Marine Corps!"and Audrey). Slavin served as a Marine in WWII and saw action at both Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima. He was also notably the pilot for three US presidents: Eisenhower, Kennedy and Johnson. He retired in 1966 as Aircraft Commander Maintenance Officer for Marine Helicopter Squadron One.

Interior is clean and unmarked. 8vo. pp. viii, [9]-90. 22 x 13.5 cm. Treatise on the use of powdered charcoal as a remedy for indigestion and other painful digestive disorders. James Bird (d. 1874, London) was educated at St. Bartholomew's Hospital and became a Licentiate of the Apothecaries' Society in 1821, and Member of the Royal Society of Surgeons in 1825. He began his practice at Cardiff, where he was Surgeon to the Royal Glamorgan Light Infantry Regiment Militia. After a few years he relocated to Portman Square in London where he was to maintain a considerable practice, retiring in about 1856.

She was an author of collections of Japanese folk tales as well as the John and Mary children's adventure series which she wrote between 1935 and 1963.

Photo album of Mussolini's state visit to Germany in September 25-29, 1937, with a brief historical background and day-by-day descriptions of movements and events. Includes the texts of both Hitler and Mussolini's speeches delivered on September 28th at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin. The original photographic study of this historic visit was compiled by Geno Mele, with the aid of Heinrich Hoffmann's staff, at the Instituto Nazionale Luce. In 1938, fifteen copies were bound and presented to Hitler and to Mussolini and his ministers.
